Numerous COSMO products are distributed in real-time to customers of MeteoSwiss for their own applications or research. Among our clients are institutes, federal offices, and companies, such as:
Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research
Swiss Hydrological Survey
National Emergency Operations Centre
Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate
Skyguide
ETH Zurich: Atmospheric and Climate Science
ETH Zurich: Geodesy and Geodynamics
ETH Zurich: Measurement and Control Laboratory
EPF Lausanne: Laboratoire de constructions hydrauliques
EMPA: Abteilung Luftfremdstoffe / Umwelttechnik
PSI: Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry
In the power industry, the model produces more and more interest, especially for the automation of the air conditioning of large buildings, for the forecast of electricity and gas consumption, or for the optimal operation of water reservoirs. Typical forecast parameters for the power industry are temperature, global irradiation, precipitation, and wind. At locations of the automatic observation network of MeteoSwiss, the systematic model biases of temperature and humidity at 2m above ground are corrected by means of a Kalman filter.
The weather dependency of the different customers is very diverse. With a detailed analysis, the economic benefit of our forecasts for our customers can be determined and optimized individually. Our specialists are happy to provide you with further information.
