Monitoring networks of MeteoSwiss

The Swiss Meteorological Institute (MeteoSwiss) has a legal obligation to continuously take meteorological and climatological measurements all over Switzerland. Our current networks of measuring stations record meteorological and climatological values both close to the ground and up in the atmosphere. In addition to this MeteoSwiss also operates two bio-meteorological monitoring networks: the phenological monitoring network (observations of the different development stages of vegetation) and the pollen monitoring network.
As from April 2005, the ground-level monitoring networks (among which ANETZ, ENET, KLIMA) are being renewed and standardized successively in the context of the project SwissMetNet. The actual camera network is being extended and an independent network of visual observations is being introduced.
