  • Broken branches; several trees knocked down.
  • Several roofs and chimneys damaged.
  • Large, badly fixed objects such as tents or scaffoldings might fall.
  • The functioning of road, rail, air and ship traffic, ski-lifts and mountain railways might be affected.

  • Wind-thrown trees.
  • Parts of buildings damaged.
  • Road, rail, ship and air traffic might be obstructed or limited.
  • Large vehicles might be overturned or drift off course.
  • The storm might cause even large, well-fixed objects such as tents and scaffoldings or mobile objects such as garden furniture to fall or knock over.
  • Power blackouts and failure of telephone lines.

  • Pay attention to the gale warnings at the lakes.
  • Objects at risk should be protected and/or fixed before the storm.
  • Limit unnecessary drives to the minimum.
  • Stay away from edges of forests, exposed trees, forests and lake shores.
  • Avoid exposed places such as roofs, ledges and projecting parts of buildings.
  • Pay attention to falling objects such as bricks, branches and electric lines.
  • Do not touch any electric lines lying on the floor.
  • Do not make unnecessary phone calls (network failure).

  • Trees, groups of trees, parts of forests and transmission poles knocked down by the wind.
  • Parts of buildings severely damaged.
  • Disturbance or complete standstill of road, rail, air and ship traffic.
  • Large vehicles and caravans might be overturned or drift off course.
  • Even large, well-fixed objects such as tents and scaffoldings might fall.
  • Large waves crashing on the lake shores.
  • Large areas affected by prolonged power blackouts and failure of telephone lines.

  • Pay attention to the gale warnings at the lakes.
  • Do not leave your houses and apartments.
  • Listen to Swiss National radio as well as local radio channels.
  • Objects at risk should be protected and/or fixed before the storm.
  • Avoid staying outdoors whenever possible. By no means should you go near transmission poles, edges of forests, exposed trees/groups of trees and lake shores areas.
  • Whenever possible, refrain from using any kind of vehicle.
  • Do not drive through forests or avenues.
  • Avoid exposed places such as roofs, ledges and projecting parts of buildings.
