Yellow Possible consequences
  • The rain might cause brooks, waterfalls and (usually dry) ditches to swell. Exposed caves might overflow.
  • Road traffic obstructed at exposed places.

Orange Possible consequences
  • Water meadows, flood-prone areas and lake shore areas are likely to be flooded.
  • Heavy rain might cause brooks, waterfalls and (usually dry) ditches to swell greatly. Exposed caves might overflow.
  • On a local level, landslides from steep slopes are possible.
  • Failure of drainage and sewage systems.
  • Subways, underground parkings and basement/cellar rooms might be flooded.
  • Road and rail traffic obstructed.

  • Observe the local weather development, get yourself informed and adapt your behaviour to the present conditions.
  • Do not pass over flooded road sections or pass them slowly.
  • Avoid basement/cellar rooms which have been flooded or are likely to be so.
  • Avoid areas with steep slopes.
  • Do not make unnecessary phone calls (network failure).

  • Flooding of areas which are not normallyflood-prone.
  • Heavy rain might cause brooks, waterfalls and (usually dry) ditches to swell heavily, even in areas which are not normally flood-prone.
  • Landslides are probable.
  • Failure of drainage and sewage systems.
  • Subways, underground parkings and basement/cellar rooms might be flooded.
  • Road and rail traffic obstructed.

  • Observe the local weather development, get yourself informed and adapt your behaviour to the present conditions.
  • Do not leave your houses and apartments unless absolutely necessary (save for evacuation).
  • Listen to Swiss National radio as well as local radio channels.
  • Avoid basement/cellar rooms which have been flooded or are likely to be so.
  • Stay away from creek beds, lake or river shores and areas of steep slopes.
  • Do not stay on bridges in case of flood.
  • Do not make unnecessary phone calls (network failure).
